Community Location of the Week

SauteeEach week we feature a location around our community that is worthy of a short road trip just to check it out. And we always love a reason to travel the country roads of Northeast Georgia. There are so many advantages to living in the  mountains; the breath taking rivers and waterfalls, nature trails, camping and fishing, we could go on and on. And we love the Great Outdoors, but this week we go indoors around Sautee, Georgia. Located about half an hour from our apartments, Cornelia is bursting with talents of all trades. We suggest you take the back roads for a lovely, country drive that will lead you past the old Indian mound to the Greenstone Soap Company on Hwy 17 . They offer homemade soaps, oils and even treats for the pets. In the mood for some art, head down the road to the Mark of the Potter, created from an old gristmill and on the river. Jam packed with folk art, home made desserts and unique trades, Sautee is our Community Location of the Week.

We strive to help our tenants make a home here at Black Rock Apartments, by helping them connect with their community. Share your community experience with us in the comments section and join us next week for a new Location of the Week .

I am a little biased as I used to live in Sautee, but I can think of no better place to spend the day or weekend. I recommend grabbing lunch at The Old Sautee Store and then a cup of coffee at Sweetwater Coffeehouse (Miss Carolyn will take good care of you). You would be remiss not to check out Greenstone Soap- the smell alone is worth stopping in.
On any given weekend there is lots going on at the Sautee Nacoochee Community Center. Check out their website to see what music, plays, or other fun events are going on.
If you love wine, you won’t want to miss a trip in to the Sautee Nachoochee Vineyard’s and Yonah Mountain Vineyard’s tasting rooms. And make sure to check out Inside Out Sautee- a shop with all kinds of neat stuff.
The best part is you can park and walk to all these places in just a couple minutes!! One visit and you’ll be hooked!

I love Mark of the Potter!!! Such beautiful art work! I have been visiting since I was a little girl and I am always still amazed at the old mill and love watching the river and feeding the fish. Well worth the trip and once you see it, you will visit again and again.

I love Sautee. Whenever I visit I make sure to stop by for a sandwich and ice cream cone from the Old Sautee Store. I also love the Greenstone Soap Company. It’s definitely worth stopping by for some homemade soap and other homemade products. Overall, Sautee is just a great little place to visit.
